We wouldn’t be surprised if you already know Julia Robinson, she’s an absolute gun NRLW player, and is making waves when it comes to representing women in sport!
Playing professional rugby at a city, state and national level, Julia knows first hand the level of commitment AND balance it takes to be at the top of your game 🏈🔥
Was playing Rugby League professionally always a goal for you? Or was there a particular moment that made you realise you had the skill and ability to make this a career?
Growing up I always wanted to be a professional sports person, but I never thought it would be playing Rugby league. I grew up playing netball and my first time playing league was in 2018, that's the year I debuted for the Brisbane Broncos and the Jillaroos.
Anyone who follows you on Insta will know that you strength train in the gym as hard as you play on the field! (Seriously, what a weapon!) How do you prioritise your recovery to keep your body fighting fit when it's pushed to its limits?
I have always been passionate in training and being in the gym. To be the best athlete I can, I know strength training and recovery is very important. I make sure I have at least 3 gym sessions a week including my conditioning and footy training. Rest days are a must as well. They allow my body to recover and reset for the following week, and so I'm fresh for games too.
What's the coolest experience you've had as an athlete? Whether it's inspiring a fan, or getting to travel somewhere amazing?
Having young girls message me/ tell me that they want to be like me when they grow up makes me so happy. Being able to inspire the younger generation is incredible.
Playing in the World Cup in England last year was one of the best experiences I have ever had.
It's hard to pin point one moment, but being able to do what I love and being able to inspire people on the way makes me so proud and happy.
Outside of footy, what's your favourite way to spend your free time?
I love going to the beach and being outdoors with my partner and two dogs. I'm a foodie, so I love going out and eating food haha.
I also like riding my motorbike with my partner up the mountains when it is a sunny day.
What's your number one tip for staying disciplined, and focused on achieving your goals?
My tip in staying disciplined and focused on my goals is to have a good routine. However not to be too strict on yourself because you still want to enjoy life and have fun.
Tell us something that might surprise people to learn about you, any hidden talents or secret hobbies?
I'm allergic to grass haha. I have to shower straight away after I play a game of footy or I get very rashy! I love cooking!
Now that travel is opening up again world wide, what's at the top of your dream holiday bucket list?
I've never really been interested in travelling, but I would love to go to New Zealand or Tasmania.
And last but not least, what's your go to Beforeyouspeak brew!
The Performance OG is the bomb! But I also like the Collagen in Mocha.
