Our Espresso Beans are a bold, medium-dark roast that pack a punch. Our all-arabica, blend is built on a base of Columbian coffee, providing a subtle chocolate sweetness while maintaining a full bodied tasting experience.
What makes our beans different from the rest? Our BYS coffee beans are roasted for a little longer, with a little less heat, to produce body and warmth. Because they are fresh, they are dry on the exterior and full of oil on the inside, producing a thick crema and full-bodied flavour - yum!
But the goodness doesn’t stop there. Not only are our coffee beans packed full of flavour, coffee beans have been proven to have many health benefits, including:
Dietary Fibre
If you needed another reason to enjoy your second (or third) daily cup of BYS coffee, now you have one. According to research, when coffee beans are brewed, small quantities of soluble fibre pass through the grounds and end up in your cup, providing more fibre than a glass of orange juice!
High in Antioxidants
Did you know that coffee has been proven to be one of the richest sources of antioxidants in the Western diet? It’s due to coffee containing a type of antioxidant known as chlorogenic acids (a.k.a CGAs), which may protect you against harmful free radicals-unstable molecules produced naturally in the body as well as from environmental exposure.
Boost Energy Levels
It's commonly known that caffeine may perk you up during an afternoon crash, but how? Please bear with us as we get technical. To put it into simple terms, caffeine is known for being a stimulant of the central nervous system and a local inducer of dopamine, a.k.a the "feel-good hormone." Due to caffeine binding to adenosine receptors in the brain, it is recognised for its effect on the energy metabolism.
You might wonder what on earth adenosine is? Well, adenosine produced within the brain binds to adenosine receptors, causing a drowsy effect by slowing down nerve cell activity. When you drink coffee, the caffeine attaches to adenosine receptors in your brain as well. Our receptors go from enabling the adenosine, to binding with the caffeine instead which blocks the drowsy effect!
Heart Health
Yes, what you heard is legit, a healthy heart may be supported by coffee! According to a recently published study, coffee, especially when consumed in amounts of 2-3 cups per day, is associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease and considerably lowers the risk of arrhythmia - Always remember to caffeinate responsibly ;)
The take home message is that coffee is amazing and has so many great health benefits. So what are you waiting for? Run, don't walk and grab a bag of our brand new Espresso Beans!
