Red Light Therapy & Cold Exposure

It’s National Wellness Month! ✨

Throughout August, we will be focusing on all things health and wellness! The Beforeyouspeak team will spend the month with a focus on self-care, managing stress, promoting healthy routines whilst trialling and testing the latest health hacks. Our aim is to create wholesome habits and test out the latest wellness trends. We invite you to join us each week and trial some of the health hacks for yourself at home and see if you notice a difference!

Research has shown that dedicating just a small amount of time to self-care can help manage stress and promote happiness! Whether that be challenging yourself physically with a new yoga pose, meditating for 10 minutes a day or even applying a facemask, try and make one small change and see how it can impact your health and wellbeing in a positive way.

For the first week of August, we will be trialling and testing the benefits of cold exposure and infrared light. Both health hacks have extensive research backing the benefits, however, we wanted to test it for ourselves!

Red Light Therapy

Red Light Therapy has incredible healing, anti-ageing and rejuvenation benefits and many studies have proven it to be one of the most beneficial treatments for achieving healthier, glowing skin.

This week we will be getting our daily dose of red light from InfrarediInfraredi's Red Light Therapy device delivers concentrated waves of red and near-infrared light into the skin and the body, which helps to stimulate our Mitochondria. This process helps to produce Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP), which is the powerhouse inside our body that creates energy that we use for the regeneration of cells and as the fuel that our body needs for energy throughout the day.

Red Light Therapy works to improve your muscle recovery, thyroid function, skin health, collagen production while helping to reduce inflammation and joint pain as well as having numerous other health benefits.

Cold Exposure — Ice Baths

Now, this may sound painful, but cold water immersion or cold exposure is a form of cryotherapy with an extensive list of health benefits. The team will attempt to submerge themselves into an ice bath, ideally chest-deep and determine if they notice any short-term effects.

Cold exposure or ice baths aim to help people feel better by reducing inflammation and improving recovery. Research shows that it can help increase energy and performance, boost your immune system, improve your sleep quality, relieve migraines, lower blood pressure, relieve stress, help boost concentration and even improve creativity.
